What The Bible Says About The Faith Of Abraham.

What The Bible Says About The Faith Of Abraham.

In this sermon, we are going to see what the bible says about the faith of Abraham.

But before we go into this sermon, let us first and foremost outline the bible verse where we derived this sermon.

Bible verse.

The scripture says, “Abraham believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous.”Romans 4:3.

What does the Bible say about the faith of Abraham?

According to the bible verse above, that is Romans 4:3, the bible says that Abraham believed in God, and because of his faith He accepted him as righteous.

What we should look out for in this passage is how Abraham believed and have faith in God.

But before then, let us look at what is faith.

What is faith?

The bible defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1).

Now linking this to the case of Abraham, we can quickly discover that there was something Abraham was hoping for from God, and that was why his faith was strong enough for God to accept him as righteous.

The story of Abraham.

In order to discover how Abraham had faith in God for Him to accept him as righteous, we must understand the story of Abraham.

The story of Abraham begins in Genesis Chapter 12 where God calls him to depart from his father’s land to a place He is going to show him.

However, the command to depart from Haran came with promises from God which includes:

  1. God said He will bless those who bless Abraham and curse those who curse him.
  2. He promised to give the land of Canaan and its neighborhood to his descendants.
  3. God promised to give him an heir, even at old age, as well as a descendant that will never be counted.
  4. He even showed him the future to strengthen his faith more.

How Abraham believed and had faith in God.

To me, Abraham believed and had faith in God because of the promises that came with carrying out God’s instructions and commands.

So, therefore, because of the promises, Abraham was always quick to do whatever God instructed him to.

He even went to the extent of trying to sacrifice the only heir God gave to him at his old age, which was even one of the fulfillment of God’s promises.

So always knowing that God is capable of doing what He promises, Abraham was always up and ready to do whatever He said.

How to apply the story of Abraham to your life.

Applying the story of Abraham to your life is very simple, and it involves always obeying whatever the Lord commands.

And the only place you can find the commandments of God is in the bible.

This means you have to study your bible every day and try as much as possible to carry out the instructions or commandments you see there.
