In this short sermon, we are going to look at what it means to love God with all your heart as written in 1 Peter 5:8.
Bible Verse.
Jesus said to him, “you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
Mathew 22:37.
What does it mean to love God with all your heart?
Loving the Lord our God is the first act of love we must all exhibit.
Most especially because God Himself first demonstrated His love towards us by sending Christ to die for us, even while we were still sinners.
So loving God should be reciprocal.
But a big problem arises because the scripture says that there is no way we can claim that we love God if we don’t start by loving our fellow human beings.
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
1 John 4:20.
So as we can see, we should start loving the Lord our God by first loving our neighbors.
