In this short sermon, we are going to see those who were with God when he said: let us make man in our image and likeness.
In Genesis 1:26, we can see how God communicates with someone or a group of persons:
Then God said, “let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness;(Genesis 1:26).
The above bible verse compels us to ask who these people God was always talking to were?
Some say it was the angels, some say the heavenly hosts.
But we are going to seek knowledge from the scriptures in order to find out who God was always conversing with.
Those who were with God when He said “let us make man in our image and likeness.
First, we must always understand that God used the Word in creating everything, that was why He was always saying ‘let there be’ and there was. John 1:1-3.
In verse 14 of the above chapter, the scripture reveals to us that this Word was formed into a body and came to stay on earth.
Also in Revelation 19:13 we plainly see this name inscribed on the horse rider, whose description points to no other person than Jesus Christ.
And from here we can understand this word to be Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.
Now to further confirm our discovery, we can see in Genesis 1:2, that while the earth, in the beginning, was without form, void and darkness were on the face of the deep.
The Spirit of God was already hovering over the face of the waters; which means that this Spirit was also the Word that swung into action to make whatsoever God commanded to come to existence.
And again we see Jesus telling us in John 6:63 that, the Words He speaks to us are Spirit.
And so we can come to a conclusion that Jesus also called the Word and the Spirit. Therefore He was the One God was always conversing with during creation.
