So many people have been seeking for the meaning of the Word of God, and there are millions of materials out there which tries to give an accurate meaning to the Word of God.
And on this sermon, I am going to use the Spirit that reveals all mysteries to lead you deeper into the understanding of the Word of God.
The word of God has a meaning.
It is true that the word of God has a meaning; and some preachers and scholars have delved so much into revealing this meaning
Some believe the bible to be the word of God; while the wise Christians have already gained the understanding that Jesus is the word of God.
So before we get to see the real meaning of the word of God, let us first see if it’strue that the bible and Jesus are the word of God.
Is the bible and Jesus the word of God?
1. The bible is the word of God.

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, we realize that the scripture (bible) was inspired by God so that Christians can use it for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
Now the bible contains so much prophecies and the bible reveals that these prophecies were written by men of God who were moved by the Holy Spirit.
In John 17:17, Jesus says that God should sanctify His disciples by His Word. And in John 6:63 He says that the Words He spoke are Spirit that brings life.
The apostle Paul is one of the early Christian apostles who has written so many books of the bible, 14 precisely and they are:
- Romans.
- 1st Corinthians.
- 2nd Corinthians.
- Galatians.
- Ephesians.
- Philippians.
- Colossians.
- 1st Thessalonians.
- 2nd Thessalonians.
- 1st Timothy.
- 2nd Timothy.
- Titus.
- Philemon.
- Hebrews.
Now after writing all this 14 books, the apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:11-12 that all these books he written are not of human origin, but were revealed to him by Jesus Christ.
So all this means is that the bible is the compilation of the Words God moved His prophets. His son and His disciples/apostles to write down.
And this therefore proves that the bible is the word of God.
Jesus Himself revealed the bible as the Word of God during His encounter with the Jews concerning the scriptures.
As He said; “You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. ”But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. John 5:39-40.
2. Jesus is the word of God.

In the whole of John chapter 1, the scripture analyses Jesus as the word of God.
It begins in verse one by telling us that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God.
It goes on to analyze in verses two and there that that it was through this Word that everything was made. And that there was nothing that was made that was not made through the Word.
And on this two verses you will discover how the scripture personifies the term ‘Word’.
The high point of this chapter is in verse fourteen where the Bible says that the Word became flesh and dwelt among men.
And after showing how His own the people (the Jews did not recognize Jesus as the messiah, it finally reveals in verses twenty nine to thirty two how John the Baptist testified of Jesus as the Word of God.
Another scripture that clearly reveals Jesus as the Word of God is Revelations 19:11-13; where it shows that He has an hidden name that no man recognized and that name is the “Word of God”.
3. The spirit is the word of God.
In John 6:63 jesus said that the words that He speaks to us are Spirit that brings life.
And to understand how the word is Spirit that brings life, we need to go to the beginning chapter of the bible; that is Genesis chapter one, and see how God brought everything into existence by the spoken word.
He said “let there be” and there was.
So initially it is the word of God is life, because it was through it that everything we see today came to be.
Now let’s gather all the understanding we have above to draw a final conclusion on the meaning of the word of God.
The word of God meaning.
Having seen that the bible, Jesus and the Spirit is the word of God; if we reflect on John 6:63, we will see the connection of what or who the word of God really is.
In that scripture, I mean John 6:63; Jesus states plainly that the words He speaks are Spirit.
And in John 4 :24 we realize that God is Spirit.
In 1 Timothy 3:14-15, the scripture states plainly that great is the mystery of Christianity because God was manifested in the flesh…
So we can finally draw a conclusion here that Jesus is the Spirit and God who speaks the word, while the bible is where those words are stored; or written down.
And I hope you can now agree with me that Jesus, te bible and Spirit are the word of God.
Conclusion.

It is very easy to understand that God must always have a mouthpiece on earth; and thie mouthpice can only be manifested in humans.
Thus, whenever God wants to speak, he is going to use a human being to do so.
We understand those human beings as prophets, since the days of old.
And till today, so many Christians are still looking up to Prophets in order to hear what God has to tell them.
Consequently, most of these Christians will be deceived by these prophets if they do not posses the spirit of discernment.
And for that reason, Christians must always learn to depend more on the bible; Jesus and the Holy Spirit, if they really want to hear from God.
Because the bible concludes in Hebrews 1:1, that in the past God spoke to our ancestors though the prophets, but in this days He chooses to speak to humans through Jesus, Hs Son Whom He made heir of all things.
