Today is Thursday March 17 2022, and in the word of God for today on this platform we are going to look at God’s covenant with David.
‘thus says the LORD: ‘ if you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers. ‘as the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’” (Jeremiah 33:19-22).
Topic for today.
From the above scripture, we can deduce the topic of our word of God for today as “no one can break God’s covenant”
And since we have already witnessed what He says above that unless one can break the covenant God has with day, they cannot break the covenant He has with His people.
What makes God to enter into a covenant with human beings.
David is not the only human being that was able to enter into a covenant with God, people like Abraham, Noah etc were also partakers of God’s covenant.
And even down to the present generation, lots of human beings are unknowingly into a covenant with God.
Now what makes God to enter into a covenant with human beings is the ability of those human’s to keep His laws and commandments.
For example, in Genesis chapter 12, Abraham was told by God to leave his father’s house and go to a land he is going to show him; and even without a road map Abraham obeyed the word of God.
And because of that God entered into a covenant with him, as we can see in Genesis chapted 15.
Now David, who is used as an example in our today’s scriptural text was a man after God’s heart.
And what made him to be so?
Because He was always quick to take the corrections of God.
In 2 Samuel chapter 12 we see how David repented in sack clothes after the Prophet Nathan warned pointed out his sin of killing Uriah to take his wife Bathseba.
So therefore, any human being that is able to obey God and also turn at His reproof will be pleased by God to the point of entering into a covenant with Him.
No one can break God’s covenant.
The illustration or example of how long-lasting or everlasting the covenant of God is in in the sun and moon, which brings about the day and night.
And we can all get the evidence in the fact that it is the same sun and moon that has been around for billions of generations we cannot even comprehend.
Putting this into God’s covenant with human beings mean that that human being will live on forever, even after he passes away from this earth.
Although you will never be able to see or hear God pronouncing His covenant with you, if you but endeavour to obey God’s commandment you will attract a covenant with Him.
