In this short sermon, we are going to look at the invisible attributes of God according to what the bible says in Romans 1:19-20.
Before we go into this short sermon proper, let’s outline the bible verse from where we derive this sermon.
Scriptural text:
Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.
(Romans 1:19-20)
What is the invisible attributes of God.
The invisible attributes of God is simply the knowledge of God which we can easily perceive or get proof from nature.
Thus, the invisible attributes of God can be can be seen in 2 ways, and they are:
- From the physical things that we see and experience.
- In the things, human beings have invented.
Invisible attributes of God from the things we see and experience.
For instance, we can perceive the knowledge about what happens after we die through our dreams.
Take for example, you have a dream where you win a very big lottery, and the money is being given to you with escorts to help you safely deposit it in a bank.
But on your way to the bank; with the money in a Ghana must go bag safely sitting on your laps, the alarm clock brings you back to reality; and you sit up on your bed thinking and wishing that the dream was a reality, or there could be a way of dragging the money from that dreamland into this world.
Beloved, as we all know there is no way of bringing whatever you see in the dream into reality; that is the same way it happens when you die and wake up in the world of the dead.
All that you acquired and achieved while alive: your certificates, awards, houses, cars, family etc. they all become useless because, you will never be able to take any of them out of this temporary world into that everlasting world.
For this reason, Paul wrote to his god-son Timothy:
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
(1 Timothy 6:7).
And the nursery rhyme goes:
Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.
Invisible attributes of God in the things human beings have invented.
As a matter of fact, all the things that human beings have created to invented for themselves are derived from what God had already made and is privelent in nature.
For example, the electric bulb is invented from the existence of the sun, the aeroplanes from birds, the automobiles or autobikes from the camel and donkeys used in transportation during the ancient.
