In this short sermon, we are going to look at the meaning of 1 Peter 3:12 which says that the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous.
Scriptural text:
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
1 Peter 3:12.
What does it mean that the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous?
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous simply means that the Lord only pays attention to those who do what is right and is against those who practice evil.
That is to say, unless you attain righteousness, you will not be able to receive anything from God.
But the problem we have is that so many people think there is no way a human being can be righteous because of what the scripture says about there not being a righteous man on Earth.
Is there a righteous man on Earth?
The scripture says in that we should not receive ourselves because whoever practices righteousness is righteous, just as Christ is righteous.
And for that reason, becoming righteous lies in your ability to practice righteousness.
How to practice righteousness.
You can practice righteousness if you are able to obey the commandments of God.
The best way to practice righteousness is to do what the scripture says in that we should owe no one anything except to love one another because it is love that helps us obey all the other commandments.
For if you love your neighbor you will not steal from him or sleep with his wife or even murder him.
Making love the number one priority in our lives will help us attain righteousness.
Conclusion.
Finally, let’s not forget that the main reason we want to become righteous is so the Lord can always answer our prayers.
In the case of Abraham, God established the Jewish race that later metamorphosed into modern Christianity through him.
