In this short sermon, we are going to see what is the meaning of in the beginning was the word.
But before we do so, let us outline the bible verse where we derived this short sermon.
Bible verse about in the beginning was the word.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:1-3
Meaning of in the beginning was the word.
Studying the above bible verse carefully will help you to understand that; the word that was with God, in the beginning, was what He used to create everything.
And the bible really personifies the term “Word”.
This means that when God commanded anything to come into existence; it was the word that went down to create them.
In verse 14 of John chapter 1, the bible clearly shows how the word became a human being.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
And this Word the scripture is referring to is no other person than our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Who is seen as the creation word here should be literally taken as the inventor of everything, according to the commands of God.
And where the confusion sets in is where the bible says that after every creation, the morning and evening will pass and God will call it one day.
But according to 2 Peter 3:8, one day is like a thousand years in God’s eyes and a thousand years like one day.
