How The Snake Convinced Eve To Eat The Fruit.

how the snake convinced eve to eat the fruit

In today’s sermon, we are going to see how the snake convinced Eve to eat the fruit in the garden of Eden.

But before we go into this sermon proper, let us outline the bible verse where the devil convinced Eve to eat the forbidden fruit.

Scriptural text:

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Genesis 3:1-6.

How did the snake convince Eve to eat the fruit?

This tree that was pleasing to the woman’s eyes was the same tree that God warned her and her husband not to eat.

For in the day they eat of it they shall die.

But she went on to eat it, and probably after realizing that she was going to die alone, she gave some to her husband who could not resist it.

When you read the whole context of this scripture in Genesis 3, as we outlined above; you are going to see how Eve and the serpent had a conversation.

The serpent said when he came to her “has God said you shall not to eat of the fruit in the middle of the garden’.

And Eve replied with a “yes”, and even went further to tell the serpent the consequence of eating the fruit “for God said in the day you eat it of it, you shall die”.

But the serpent tried to convince Eve that she will not die, instead, it is her eyes that are going to open so she can understand what is good and evil.

He also deceived her by saying that God does not want them to have the knowledge of good and evil.

But after eating of the fruit and realizing that the devil was the liar, Eve and her husband were thrown out of the garden by God.

And it is this action of Eve that keeps the whole human race suffering to date.
