Today is Tuesday, 29 of March in the year 2022, and our bible verse of the day will be taken from the book of
But now, O LORD, you are our father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and all we are the work of your hand.(Isaiah 64:8).
Now if we look into the many processes of making clay in different cultures, we will discover that there is one process that can never and will never be left out; because if it does, the clay will crack, break and spoil; this process is known as firing.
And it can be explained as the slow application of heat to rid the clay of water particles, organic and inorganic materials etc; and deliver it hard, tightened and strong.
It is this process that perfects the clay.
In modern cultures, a device called electric kiln is used for this firing process, while local potters either dry it by the fire place using firewood, or under the sun which takes a much lone time.
But whatever method is used, the clay can never escape the firing process.
Thus, applying this method to us Christians as Gods clay; it is therefore certain that we cannot escape the miseries: trials, tribulations, pains, sufferings etc. which is but our own firing process.
But this firing does not happen for nothing because; while the clay experiences the torments of heat, those unwanted particles and materials are being expelled from its body and finally renders it perfect for the potter.
That also is the same way the torments we go through as Christians; expels all unholy attitudes from our bodies and renders us perfect for every good works.
No wonder Job, who is the perfect example of Christianity, commented:
Remember, I pray, that you have made me like clay. And will you turn me into dust again. (Job 10:9).
