Today is Sunday, 27 of March in the year 2022, and our bible verse of the day will be taken from the book of Amos 6:1.
Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, and trust in Mount Samaria, notable persons in the chief nation, to whom the house of Israel comes.Amos 6:1.
A person who is ‘at ease in Zion’ is a Christian who has already received Christ into his or her life, and has been tagged as saved.
While ‘Mount Samaria’ represents the church where believers i.e. the house of Israel, gathers to worship God.
Why the bible places a curse on these kinds of believers is because, they think they have repented; and are already saved.
But they fail to practice the words of God; and in so doing, be able to go out there and win souls. That is to say, convert those who are still lost and are living in sin.
If you study that scripture in it’s whole context, precisely from verse 1 to 6; you will realize that the places mentioned depict unbelievers and where they gather.
And it tells us bluntly that God will also destroy the believers as he destroyed those cities.
Because if they have had true repentance they would have been able to go ot there and convert others.
I always wonder what believers will preach to each other again every Sunday to Sunday, from January to December; when what our Lord Jesus commanded was for us to:
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.Mark 16:15.
It is unfortunate to note that, many have been ordained evangelist in their churches; but they have never gone out to do their work. Which is taking the gospel to people in their environment and houses.
Most of them lack the boldness, and because they think that evangelism is all about going about the street in the open preaching the gospel, they draw back.
But according to the scriptures we have two types of evangelism:
“How I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house.Acts 20:20.
