Today is Saturday, 21 of March in the year 2022, and our bible verse of the day will be taken from the book of (Genesis 12:3).
I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.(Genesis 12:3)
The above scripture was the promise that God made to our father Abraham.
But before God made the above promise to Abraham, there is something he wanted him to do. And let’s check the context of the above scripture to discover that.
Why God made the above promise to Abraham.
When studying the context of our bible verse of the day for 21 March 2022, we discover that God commanded Abraham to leave his father’s house and go to a land He is going to show him.
The promise now is what accompanied the command for Abraham to depart from his father’s house.
Going through the whole story of Abraham, we discover that he obeyed God, and taking his wife, slaves, animals and even his cousin Lot, Abraham started out for Haran, according to God’s command.
And in Genesis chapter 15, we see how God entered into a covenant with Abraham.
Let’s briefly see what a covenant is.
What is a covenant?
A covenant is a path or binding agreement between two persons. In the biblical context it is always an agreement between God and man.
Why God enters a covenant with human beings.
God enters a covenant with humans in order for them to carry out his will or commandment.
In the case of Abraham, God was looking for someone to use and establish the Jewish race.
And so He had to call a man from an existing tribe (Babylonia), and take him to a place He was going to begin the establishment.
What happens if human breaks God’s commandment.
The breaking of God’s covenant usually leads to generational curses.
From the story of Abraham, we must always keep ourselves prepared for God and obey Him if we want to enter any covenant with Him.
