Today is Thursday, 17 of March in the year 2022, and our bible verse of the day will be taken from the book of Genesis 2:7.

Bible Verse.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathe into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Explanation.

Our Bible verse for today shows us those 2 components that makes up a human being and they are:

  1. Dust of the ground.
  2. Breathe of life.

And in Ecclesiates 12:7 we see how this 2 components disengages and brings about the death of a human being.

According to the scripture, the dust returns to the earth from whence it came, while the spirit returns to God who made it.

Why did man have to die?

fall of man

The death of man came as a result of disobeying God, his creator.

After He created man, God instructed him in Genesis 2:15 to eat everything in the garden of Eden except the fruit that was in the tree in the middle of the garden.

And He plainly told them that the day they eat it they will surely die.

But in Genesis chapter 3 we see how the serpent deceived human beings, and they disobeyed God and ate of that fruit, and the curse immediately took effect on them.

Before the curse could begin to manifest, God had pursued human beings out of the garden.

And in Genesis chapter 4, Adam and Eve, the culprits will live to witness one of their son, Cain killing his younger brother, Abel.

And just like that, all the generations of human will have to taste or experience the inescapable death; after toiling the earth and tilling the soil to survive.

The greatest consequence of man’s fall.

Some might say that suffering and death is the greatest consequence of the fall of man but I disagree with that; because to me the greatest consequence of mans fall was loosing the fellowship they once had with God.

Salvation for mankind.

But since God still looked up to human beings as the center and high point of His creation, at His own set time, He gave His only begotten Son to come and die in order to reconcile mankind back to Himself. (Collosians 1:19-20).

So therefore, the Lord Jesus brought salvation to mankind. And it was all in the will of God and not of man.

Conclusion.

Now even though man will have to die one day, it is only it’s first component that will taste death; that is the dust of the earth.

While the other component, the breathe of life will return to God to enjoy everlasting bliss.

And this can only happen if that human being do not act like their first parents by disobeying God’s commandments.
