Today is Wednesday, 16 of March in the year 2022, and our bible verse of the day will be taken from the book of Romans 4:3.

Bible Verse.

The scripture says, “Abraham believed in God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous.”

Romans 4:3.

Explanation.

In our Bible verse for today, we see how Abraham’s believe in God, and his faith was counted for him as righteous.

And the question we need to ask at this point is, how did Abraham believe and have faith in God?

Before we attempt to answer this question, let us first and foremost see what faith is.

What is faith?

The Bible defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Now let us move on to see how Abraham believed and have faith in God.

How Abraham believed and have faith in God.

Abram

1. The command to depart from Haran

And relating to the case of Abraham as we see in Genesis chapter 12 when God called him.

He commanded him to depart from his father’s house, and go to a land He was yet to show him.

Now the call was not just empty because it came with promises.

In fact, God promised to bless those who bless Abraham and curse those who curse him.

And when Abraham was 65 years old, as we can see in chapter 4, he started out from Haran according to God’s command.

To me therefore, I think this promise was what compelled Abraham to hearken to the voice of God.

2. Arrival at Canaan.

As soon as Abraham arrived in Canaan, God appeared to him and made another promise to give that land to he descendants.

We need to understand at this point that the second promise would not have been made, if Abraham did not obey God’s command to move from Haran.

3. Abram in Hebron.

Again in Hebron God promised to give Abram so many descendant that no one will be able to count.

Now let us note at this point that Abram was over 75 years old and still fathered no single child.

4. God’s covenant with Abram.

So in Genesis 15, Abram complained his childlessness to God, and He promised to give him an heir.

And we all know the story from here.

As we can all seefrom the above discourse, Abram faith in God was found in the fact that whenever God told him to do anything and promised him something for that, he will always hearken to His voice.

No wonder the scripture says in Romans 10:13 that “faith comes by hearing the word of God”.

Conclusion.

Finally, we can draw a conclusion from the story of Abraham above that to believe and have faith in God means that a human being must always be ready and carry out every instructions or commands given to them by God.
