Today is Sunday, July 17, 2022, and our bible verse of the day will be taken from the book of Acts 15:16.
‘After this I will return And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, And I will set it up;Acts 15:16.
David’s household was ruined and destroyed because of sin.
David himself began it all when he killed Uriah and took over his wife Bathsheba. 2 Samuel 11.
Throughout his lineage, both kings and the citizens were disobedient to God and suffered severe punishments.
Samaria was taken to exile by the king of Assyria (2 Kings 15), while their brother Judah was taken to exile by the king of Babylon (2 Kings 25;21)
Now Judah was the direct descendant of David, after Israel’s revolt.
And Samaria was the other 11 tribes of Israel.
Thus Samaria never came back from their exile, but Judah did because of the promise of God we see in our opening text.
Today we must seek God’s forgiveness.
Think about those times you have disobeyed God and pleaded with him to forgive all your sins.
Remember what King David did when the prophet Nathan revealed his trespasses to him.
He repented in sackcloths. (2 Samuel 12)
And that is the very reason why God promised and restored the house of David after they suffered so much for their sins.
Beloved, there is no sin that God cannot forgive.
Lomg as you go to him with a repentant heart, he will surely forgive you.
And once you are forgiven, all those things that suffered a loss in your life shall be restored as He promises today.
Let us pray:
Father Lord, we thank you for the promise in your word for today, and humbly beg you to pardon all our transgressions so that we might be worthy to partake in this promise.
We own up to all our errors and implore your mercy to overtake all our sins for in Jesus’ mighty Name we pray. Amen.
